Trip Leader: John Slemp
Join us for a special hands-on workshop on aviation photography. John Slemp, an aviation
photography expert and instructor, will be our workshop leader.
We will start with an optional lunch at The Flying Machine Restaurant at the Lawrenceville hangar
where we can photograph lots of different kinds of aircraft surrounding the restaurant. After lunch, John will start the workshop with a short class on how to approach aviation photography, example photographs, and very important safety instructions.
Then we will photograph a Cessna 150 airplane belonging to one of our members, Mark Sirull. In
addition to photographing the airplane inside and out, Mark will take anyone who is interested on a ride around the airport (one person at a time – it’s a two-seater!).
Another special treat will be the opportunity to photograph a homebuilt F1 Rocket N255D
airplane and meet the owner/pilot Darrell Hudec.
As it starts to get dark, we will light-paint both airplanes and try some other cool techniques for
some WOW images. Register today!
Workshop Fee:
The fee for the workshop is $20 per person. To secure your reservation, payment will be
made in advance. There is a Paypal button on the registration page.

What to bring and what to wear:
Things to bring:
Your camera
A tripod
Several lenses like 24-70mm, 70-200mm, and a macro lens if you have one. If you want to photograph planes taking off and landing during the lunchtime, bring a long lens at least 400mm.
Ear Plugs (in case it’s loud)
Sunglasses
A flashlight (we will be shooting after dark)
Knee pads can be helpful when kneeling on the tarmac to get interesting shooting angles
Tethering is a great idea to see what shots you’re getting real-time. Feel free to bring your tethering cord and laptop.
What to wear:
It is VERY important that you wear soft clothing and shoes with no buckles, zippers, or anything that could scratch the paint of the airplanes.
When the sun goes down it may get chilly, so bring a jacket.
This event will be rain or shine, although if it’s raining, we will move inside the hangar.
Your bags and extra gear can be kept in the hangar while we’re shooting.
