Our May Speaker is John Slemp and the topic will be “Product Photography for Special Projects, Keepsakes, and Heirlooms”!
If you attended or watched the video recording of John’s presentation at our February 2022 meeting, you’ll remember that he gave a very engaging and informative presentation on his World War II bomber jacket project. He showed photos of the priceless bomber jackets that he shot with a large homemade lightbox. He's going to bring that lightbox to show everyone, and demonstrate how to use it, and how you could make a similar one. You may not have a need to photograph bomber jackets, but perhaps you have other family heirlooms or keepsakes that you don’t have room to keep, but don’t want to lose the memory of them? John will give you tips and ideas on how you can take high quality photos of these types of memorabilia, large and small, and retain the memory without needing to keep the physical object.
Join us on May 11th as we talk about lighting and photographing everyday objects with readily available light…including natural light.
What you will learn:
Dealing with shiny objects.
Bringing out texture.
Shooting tethered to a laptop.
Naming and archiving your images.
Macro photography anyone?
