Join us for the March Technical Webinar: Ethics, AI and the Future of Democracy with Mark E. Johnson!
The March Technical Webinar speaker is Mark E. Johnson and the topic is “Ethics, AI and the Future of Democracy”. The webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 6:30 pm.
As a photographer, artificial intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly available to create
incredibly realistic and convincing images. So in that regard, AI is a fantastic and really cool
phenomenon.
Since the first photograph was made in 1826, photographs have been used as proof that something existed. If you saw something in a photograph, you believed what you saw was real, and as such, they have the power to inform and persuade. They can provoke societal debate and influence the policies of government.
But what happens when what appears to be “real” is not real but highly manipulated or a completely fabricated image which can deceive the viewer? What tools are available to detect whether an image is real or fake? And does a photographer who uses AI still own the copyright for that image? What happens to the rights of the photographers whose images are being used without their knowledge or consent in the creation of artificially created images?
Come and hear from an expert and leader in the field of AI as he talks about:
How generative AI works
Legal issues
Ethical issues
What photographers need to ponder
“I was there.”
