Join us for the Technical Webinar: "The Art and Science of Storytelling Photography" with Tracey Rice on December 3rd!
The November Technical Webinar speaker will be Tracey Rice and the topic will be “The Art and Science of Storytelling Photography”. The webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 6:30 pm. Since the November Technical Webinar would have fallen on Thanksgiving week this year, we have pushed it out by one week to accommodate travel and the holiday.
We all strive to make images that have impact, are memorable, and spur that “second look”.
Most often, it is an emotional connection with the viewer that causes them to linger a bit longer on an image. But what causes that emotional connection, and how can you achieve it in your
images?
Images that make an emotional connection typically have strong elements of storytelling. The old saying “A picture is worth a thousand words,” is very true, but it’s easier said than done! Not every picture tells a story, but those that do will draw you in.
If you were a filmmaker, you might have 2-hours to tell the story. A photojournalist or editorial photographer might have a series of 3-7 images in a photo essay to set the scene and tell the story. The art of telling a story in a single image is a skill that you can develop with understanding and practice.
What will we learn:
Tracey will deconstruct storytelling photography and share tips and techniques you can use to create images that engage viewers on a deeper level.
