We will take a wide look at what it takes for successful photography. From preparation, the details of shooting, post-processing and more. There is also organization of images, finding them when you need them, and sharing them with friends and the world.

In this session the first part of the photography workflow is covered in some detail starting with getting your camera ready.

Bring your camera to the meeting. We will help you to make sure that your camera knows your name, the time and date, and much more.

In addition to Ludwig’s presentation, this will be our first meeting featuring a brief show and tell. Jim Worthington will show and tell about his experience at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. According to Jim, the farm is an easy weekend trip from here and offers excellent birds-in-flight, as well as reptile, photo opportunities.

Post Cards from Peachtree Corners

In bygone days visitors to a far away city would find post cards at news stands to drop a line to friends and family back home and show the place they were visiting. News stands and post cards have pretty much gone the way of Kodachrome. Nowadays everybody carries a smartphone and takes a quick shot to post for their friends. What you can still buy, and that is really what inspired this contest, are books with old photos giving a delightful historical records of places.

Our city of Peachtree Corners is new and forward looking. Let’s go out and shoot views around our town that tell about the place we call home. Photos that show places, buildings, streets, anything that shows glimpses of Peachtree Corners. Be sure to jot down the location where your photos where taken.

Our contest will result in a small booklet with “Post Cards from Peachtree Corners”. We will also exhibit a small collection of prints in several locations around town.

Next month the details of how to submit your photos will be published here. Photos may be newly taken for this contest or from your archives. Rules are easy. Photos must be your creations, you must have publication rights and share those rights, non-exclusively, with the Peachtree Corners Photography Club. There will be some requirements on size to make sure that images look good on printed pages and in large exhibit prints.

You may submit multiple photos, there will be no entry fee for the first four of your photos.

Do you need a photographer or take photos for others? See our list of members offering professional photography services.
