The October speaker will be Chuck Rogers and the topic will be “My Life in Photography”.
The Peachtree Corners Photography Club is excited to announce that our guest speaker for the October meeting will be Chuck Rogers. Chuck has received international acclaim for his iconic photos of the early days of the US space program and for countless other stunning images. During just 1 of his 12 years at NASA, he photographed 100 launches or attempted launches. In addition, the US government bestowed a special honor on Chuck for his work with NASA: a derivation of his Explorer 1 photo was used in the design of a US postage stamp. In 1963, Chuck photographed President Kennedy with the Saturn rocket at Cape Canaveral. For National Geographic, he photographed the first launch of a missile from a submarine.
At the 1978 Peachtree Road Race, Chuck positioned himself strategically just past the finish line in Piedmont Park. Among all of his photos, “Rain After the Race” is his most famous. It was licensed to Nike for two runs of 25,000 posters each. Eventually, Chuck’s photo appeared on Nike billboards around the world. Chuck is an outstanding speaker and has a wealth of amusing stories about his life in photography. Chuck and his wife Vee live here in metro Atlanta.
