The May speakers will be Joe and Liz Victorine and the topic will be “The Technical and Artistic Approach as a Cinematographer”.

About Joe Victorine
My love for the moving image probably came genetically from my cinephile father. For 18 years I have been able to develop extensive technical knowledge working in a wide range of aesthetic disciplines including fashion, commercial, documentary, branded, narrative and music video, and I take pride in being a true collaborator, crafting a specific and individual look for each project.

As Director of Photography, I’ve had the privilege to lens the camera for some of the most notable personalities and brands including Nina Agdal, Miguel, Gigi Hadid, Imaam Hammam, Mick Jagger, Michael Kors, IBM, Toyota, Vogue, Chevy, Kate Spade, Budweiser, Nike, 7up, Spotify, Lincoln, Gap, Cole Haan and more. This work has taken me to 6 continents on projects big and small, and I’ve filmed over 100 commercials to date.

Recent projects I’ve DP’d have won a 2018 Webby, been shortlisted for a 2018 CLIO in cinematography, and won a Bronze CLIO in 2017, and also been featured as Ad of the Week on AdWeek. In 2018, I was the cinematographer for Budweiser’s Super Bowl web campaign with the legendary Clydesdales.

I’ve had the honor of working on notable documentaries including camera operating on last year’s hit documentary “Won’t You Be My Neighbor”, and the 2014 Oscar winning 20 Feet from Stardom, as well DPing the feature length film “Bookers Place: a Mississippi Story” which screened at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival and received rave reviews from the New York Times and Variety.
I was raised in NYC and now live just outside the city near an abundance of trees with my lovely wife and two daughters. When I’m not on a shoot, I can be found tinkering with my cameras and bicycles, running and kayaking.

My presentation will include a breakdown of my technical and artistic approach as a cinematographer on 3 separate commercial projects, from working with directors, to lighting and camera selection, to crafting a visual style that fits the brand.
